Jurassic World: Dominion

Imagine getting the band back together after 20+ years but instead of rocking out to KISS, you perform only Yanni covers from the early 90s. That’s kind of what we had here.

The biggest complaint I’ve read from others, and I agree, was the threat of genetically modified locusts in this movie. Why would you do that?? You already have the ideal antagonists. Freaking dinosaurs!! I’m talking T-Mother Loving Rex!! Carnivores!! Meat-eaters!! It’s like if you were watching Jaws and it turns out a tick infestation was the real issue that summer, never-mind the pesky shark. Forget Jason Voorhees, my couch has wood mites!

Don’t get me wrong, it was great seeing Dr. Grant and Dr. Sattler together on the big screen again! And Dr. Ian Malcolm was classic Jeff Goldblum, who may have been my favorite part of the show. Plus, there were some great action sequences. Chris Pratt being chased by raptors on a motorcycle was fun…to clarify, Pratt was the one on the motorcycle, not the raptors.

Although there were aspects that I enjoyed, I really feel like you can wait for streaming on this one. Ultimately, the plot is just too repetitive and what they did change, just didn’t work. But since it’s supposedly the conclusion to this Jurassic story, in my opinion it’s worth the watch. And if you happen to be in a band that only performs Yanni covers, there’s no judgment here. His 1992 piccolo cover of Baa Baa Blacksheep really slaps!

My Rating:

🛶= Wait for streaming
