Thor: Love and Thunder

Part of integral journalism is remaining non-biased and not letting things like a “man-crush” on Chris Hemsworth play into your review…not that there even is one  here because there’s absolutely not! Not even sure why I mentioned it.

I mean, yes he is a perfect physical specimen, which can only be rivaled by his charismatic and charming personality, and I guess body and personality are important to some people but not me. Nope. And sure he could protect me in a street mugging if someone demanded my Thor wallet. Not to mention, he’s wealthy and could provide financial security, but honestly I don’t even think about these things so please let it go!

As for the movie, a lot of the pushback this film is getting is that it is too funny, or comes across as a parody. My perspective is that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is getting so big, with 34 films and series right now, that we are going to see various genres within the MCU. We got horror with Dr. Strange 2, and this one happens to lean comedy.

For me, I thought it was super entertaining. I liked that the story focused on saving the Gods, as opposed to a generic “the world will end” plot. The music was great. There were some stunning visuals, and I appreciated the humor combined with Thor’s vulnerability. Unlike Hemsworth himself, the movie does have a few flaws, but I still think it’s a fun theater experience. What? Who put that line in there about Hemsworth?? Must of been the editor.

My rating:
