Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

No this is not a documentary about the time our pharmacist accidentally gave my dad’s sister testosterone supplements instead of her cold medicine. That series is called Aunt-Man. This is about the Marvel superhero and stars Paul Rudd.

Look, I’m a huge Marvel fan and approach every Marvel movie with some bias, but my problem is not unique. After Avengers: Endgame, I’m just having trouble finding that same level of excitement with every superhero series and movie that has come out since. It’s like flying First Class, then having to go back to coach. Yeah, this film will get you where you need to go but it’s just not the same as those spacious seats at the front of the plane…unless you’re on Spirit Airlines, then every seat sucks. I’d rather fly standby on a paper airplane.

My opinion of Paul Rudd from my  Ghostbusters: Afterlife review remains unchanged. The man is amazing! And the rest of the supporting cast is great as well! But the movie has more CG than Clark Gable’s initials. Although I love the concept of there being this microscopic world that we can’t see, there was simply a lot of animation. My other complaint is now that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is in the Mulitverse, there are literally infinity of the same bad guy. So even when our hero takes the bad guy out, it feels very inconsequential.

In the end, the movie was entertaining and I’m going to watch the Marvel films to see where the story goes, so we’re giving this our “wait for streaming” rating. It’s a Disney Plus watch when time allows. But for what it’s worth, my Aunt Hank liked it.
