Transformers: Rise of the Beasts

You know, they say Transformers are more than meets the eye, but honestly, this movie was pretty much what I expected. It’s once again about Transformers chasing after a magic object and they recruit the help of a reluctant human. It’s not painful to watch by any means, but it’s definitely the same formula. Each movie is starting to feel like holiday shopping where everyone is after the hot new toy of the season. I remember my parents fought so hard to get me a Tickle Me Elmo doll, and when they couldn’t, I had to settle for a Tickle Me Carl. Needless to say it was not the same thing, but my point is when the next season or movie comes around the last one seems unimportant.

The special effects were good and it’s always fun to see robot aliens battle each other. I also love Optimus Prime, but we only get to see one side of him in all of these movies. He’s all business all the time. I want to know what Optimus does for fun? Just once, I’d love to see him playing frisbee golf or doing a crossword puzzle. “Autobots, what is a five letter word for a mode of transportation known for pulling trailers or towing?”

In the end, we’re giving this our “wait for streaming” rating. If you like the later Transformer movies, you’ll like this. I did enjoy the last scene involving a guy and a business card. It could make future movies interesting. An trust me, I know interesting. Just ask Carl.
